Ace of Baes is a personal work that portrays people identifying as
asexuals. It is a portrait series where they allowed to express
themselves freely.
Asexuals are generally very
invisible within the LGBTQIA community, but this documentary makes them
visible and raises awareness on a group that has an extremely wide
spectrum but faces a great deal of assumptions based on stereotypes and
prejudice. The participants filmed so far represent cultural experiences
from Japan, the US, Sweden, Estonia, India and Spain.
Ace of Baes is a work-in-progress by video artist Emie // Eva-Marie Elg and is part of her A Sexual Series.
The screening is supported by Folkuniversitetet.
It
will be held in Uppsala Konsert and Kongress from 10 am to 11:30 am during
Uppsala Pride festival on 21st September (Saturday).
